Ms. Ortega earned her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1992, where she contributed as an editor of the prestigious Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with Honors, from the University of Florida, specializing in Finance. During her time at the University of Florida, Ms. Ortega was an active student leader, serving as a councilman on the Business Administration College Student Council and chairing the Conduct Board. She was also recognized as the Outstanding Minority Student Scholar in 1989.
Starting her legal career at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, one of Florida’s largest corporate law firms, Ms. Ortega gained valuable experience managing complex, high-value property transactions for major clients. She later continued her career at Shutts & Bowen LLP, Miami’s oldest law firm, where she represented institutional clients in significant real estate transactions.
